Ascension Parish Clerk of Court Kermit Hart Bourque recently announced the dates for qualifying as a candidate for the offices to be voted upon in the Oct. 4 parish and district elections.


Qualifying will be open to candidates Wednesday and Thursday July 9 and 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday, July 11 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Offices for which qualifying will take place are: District Attorney, 23rd Judicial District; District Judge(s), 23rd Judicial District, Divisions A, B, C, D, E; District Judge, 23rd Judicial District, Division D (unexpired term); Mayor, City of Donaldsonville; Council Member(s), City of Donaldsonville, Districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5; Justice of the Peace, 1st, 2nd, 3rd Justice Courts; and Constable, 1st, 2nd, 3rd Justice Courts.

Interested persons may qualify at the Office of the Clerk of Court, 300 Houmas St., Donaldsonville or 815 E. Worthey St., Gonzales.

The Primary Election is scheduled for Saturday, October 4, and the General Election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 4.
