During the April 9, 2013 meeting of the Ascension Republican Parish Executive Committee, Dr. Patrice Pujol offered a PowerPoint presentation outlining Ascension Parish school system's successes, struggles and future planning efforts. In the 60 minute presentation, Dr. Pujol was able to describe in detail the curriculum, TAP program, present & future planning, tax renewal and overview of its $190 million budget. She was able to demonstrate her serious commitment to budgetary responsibility to this room full of fiscal “hawks.” After a 30 minute Q&A, the ARPEC members overwhelming agreed to support the millage renewal on the May 4, 2013 ballot. Also present with Dr. Pujol and Mr. Gautreau were District 3 school board member Mr. Richard Brown, Assistant Superintendent Ms. Denise Graves and Public Information Officer Mr. Johnnie Balfantz. In addition to guest speakers from the school board, Ascension Parish State Representative Eddie Lambert spoke to and fielded questions from the ARPEC on topics such as the Governor's tax reforms and education. The next meeting of the Ascension RPEC will be on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. at the Cabin Restaurant located at 5405 La. hwy. 44 in Gonzales.
