Parish President Kenny Matassa announced on Dec. 12 that Ascension Parish Government will assume the responsibility for debris removal along state highways.
“If you live along a state highway, and you still have debris remaining on your property, we are going to help you,” Matassa said.
Residents must visit room 105 of the Parish Government Complex, 615 E. Worthey St., Gonzales in order to sign the proper paperwork and have the debris picked up. Residents may also call Tetra Tech at (225) 348-2254 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday.
Debris will continue to be picked up now through Dec. 22 before a brief holiday break. A parish-wide final pass will be conducted Jan. 9 through Jan. 20.
Ascension Parish Government will not demolish or pick up demolished homes. Residents are encouraged to secure other alternatives needed to remove demolished homes from their property.
