March 18, 2017 was Child Advocacy Services’ Sixth Annual Voices for Children Bowl at Chappapeela Sports Park in Hammond. This flag football tournament challenged area teams while supporting services for children.

Nine teams played to raise money to benefit the Children’s Advocacy Center, which offers support to the services provided by CAS on child abuse cases. The event’s mission was to provide awareness to the community about the Children’s Advocacy Center and the help they provide through advocacy, forensic interviews, prevention education, and additional services to children in 10 parishes throughout Southeast Louisiana.

Gonzales Police Department paired up again with Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office to take home the championship trophy for the second year in a row. Other teams participating included Hammond Police Department, Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office, Florida Parishes Detention Center, St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, Raising Cane’s, St. Tammany Fire Department, Spirit Professionals, and Monster Ink.

Multiple area businesses also came out to support the event and provide services for participants and spectators. These businesses included Anthon Chiropractic Care, All American Healthcare, North Oaks Health System, Elite Sounds of LA, and Southeastern Louisiana University. Academy Sports & Outdoors served as Presenting Sponsor for the event this year.
