The Ascension Council on Aging held their annual Spring Fling on April 13, bringing in dozens of senior citizens from the Parish and surrounding areas to participate in the highly anticipated event.

There was more than 30 contestants entered into the annual Easter Parade where contestants took home prizes for first, second and third place in the categories of Funniest, Most Original, Prettiest, Best Theme and Most Creative.

Winners in their respective categories were: First Place: Carol LaParne – Funniest, Mary Chauff- Most Original, Gail Barter – Prettiest, Lucille Taylor – Best Theme and Rosa Braud - Most Creative; Second Place: Ruby Ory –Most Original, Leane Davis – Prettiest, Erval Hatcher – Funniest, Elma Villneurve- Most Creative and Marion Crawford- Best Theme; Third Place: Shirley Byes – Most Original, Delta Chaney -Prettiest, Delores Mackin – Funniest, Carrie Fernandez – Best Theme, Evelyn Logwood- Most Creative.

"We provide educational, wellness, meals, along with other core services to our Seniors, so every now and then, we try and give them another type of fulfillment and enjoyment, that they may not receive otherwise," said ACOA Director Darlene Schexnaydre.
