Track star Maerys Joseph set many records when she was at Ascension Catholic, and nothing has stopped her since.

After a decorated career with the Lady Bulldogs, Joseph went on to become a member of the Nicholls State track team, and she has continued to be impressive.

Last week, Joseph set a new Nicholls school record in the 400-meter dash as she finished with a time of 55.74 seconds at the 2017 Southland Conference Track and Field Championships.

With this tremendous time, the freshman broke the previous record of 56.04—which was set by teammate Elexus Allen on April 30, 2012.

Joseph is no stranger to record-breaking performances.

Back when she was on the Ascension Catholic track team, she helped lead the Lady Bulldogs to back-to-back state titles during her junior and senior years.

Joseph concluded her high-school career by winning state championships in the 800-meter dash three years in a row.

When Joseph won the event during her junior year, she set a state meet record that still stands today of two minutes and 16.57 seconds.
