With a tremendously successful 2017 Ascension softball season in the rearview mirror, the Donaldsonville Chief has unveiled its All-Parish team.

With a tremendously successful 2017 Ascension softball season in the rearview mirror, the Donaldsonville Chief has unveiled its All-Parish team.

Ascension saw plenty of success among its six high schools as four of those squads made the postseason.

St. Amant had the most impressive season as they won District 5-5A, carried a 16-game winning streak into the playoffs and reached the state quarterfinals, before being eliminated by Live Oak.

Ascension Catholic also made it to the state tournament in Sulphur after winning the District 6-1A crown. The Lady Bulldogs were beaten by top-seeded Vermillion Catholic in the quarterfinals.

Dutchtown went 19-14 during the regular season and finished as runner-up in District 5-5A. They upset Destrehan in the first round of the playoffs, before losing to top seed and defending state champion Alexandria in regionals.

Finally, Ascension Christian was able to make a return to the playoffs after finishing the regular season with a 12-10 record.
