Donaldsonville resident Corionte Bell is continuing to make a name for himself in the cosmetics industry with the expansion of his business, Karoma by Kori.

What started as a hobby has quickly grown into a full-time business, as Bell's passion is undoubtedly booming. When the small business began at the end of last year, it had a handful of fragrances, now there is well over 70 products including fragrances, bath bombs, handmade soaps, candles, incense, his and hers oil and bath salts.

"When I was younger I always heard my grandmother and my mom say that with God anything is possible and now I am really living the anything is possible part," he said.

While studying business at Nicholls State University in Thibodeaux he developed a love for business, prompting him to explore ideas to create his own startup.

"I have always been one to try new things and I recently have a love for business," he said.

When he found his niche, he tested out his products on family and friends and began to hand out samples to business in the area.

"I started to actually luck up and have people who gave me positive comments and who came back for more."

Recently, he signed a contract with Colour Pop Cosmetics, a cosmetics store in Maine, that will carry his new line Karoma Care, which includes makeup brushes and nail polish. He also has representatives that sell his products in various states such as Texas and in his hometown of Donaldsonville.

The entrepreneur's long-term goal is to take his passion and make it into a successful business and brand to be carried in malls and stores.

"It's basically your next big brand of cosmetology."

Bell's products can be found at various stores in Baton Rouge, Thibodeaux and New Orleans and through Etsy and Facebook.
