Sanchez told The Donaldsonville Chief he was confident it would be a show stopper.

Ascension Catholic High School celebrated homecoming in style with a parade on Friday afternoon. Floats carrying football players and spirit groups paraded down the streets of Donaldsonville while eager onlookers caught candy and prizes thrown from the float.

ACHS graduate Garret Hales was there to support his alma mater, even after graduating in 2016. He said he comes back every year to support the Bulldogs during homecoming week.

"I like seeing the community come together and be one to support the Dogs for the big game," Hales said.

Eric Sanchez cheered on two students who were in the parade. Twins Mason and Madison Zeringue could both be seen on floats cruising through the city. Mason is a football player, and his sister Madison was on another float.

"We're just out here to support the Dogs for the homecoming day," Sanchez said.

Both Hales and Sanchez attended the homecoming game the following day at Floyd Boutte Stadium. Sanchez told The Donaldsonville Chief he was confident it would be a show stopper.

"We're just going to wipe the field clean with 'em, that's all we're going to do," Sanchez said prior to the game.

Sanchez was certainly right, as the Bulldogs went on to defeat the Covenant Christian Lions in a 47-0 shutout victory on Friday night.
