23rd Judicial District Court, Parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James

During the week of October 2-October 6, 2017, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, Parishes of Ascension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

1. Brady Mixon, 38058 Gold Meadow St. Gonzales, LA., age 37, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 4 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended under the following conditions: The defendant is to serve 6 months in the parish jail or enroll in and complete a court approved substance abuse treatment program. Upon completion, the defendant is to be placed on 4 years supervised probation.

2. Patrick Medine, 11279 Hwy 22 St. Amant, LA., age 29, pled guilty to Attempted Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.

3. Tanner Eppinett, 14576 Bluff Rd. Prairieville, LA., age 21, pled guilty to Attempted Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.

4. David Carlson, 39080 Little Creek Dr. Gonzales, LA., age 29, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

5. Ollie Stingley, 38108 Pauline St. Prairieville, LA., age 40, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with theLouisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.

6. Dana Bourgeois, 38255 Hwy 74 Gonzales, LA., age 35, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoids. On the charge of Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance, the defendant was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. On the charge of Possession of Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoids, the defendant was sentenced to 6 months in the parish jail with credit for time served. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another. It was further ordered that the imposed sentence is to be suspended, and the defendant is to be placed on 18 months supervised probation.

7. Sasha Unbehagen, 13689 Amite Ln. Maurepas, La., age 35, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, DWI 3 rd Offense, and Reckless Operation of a Vehicle. On the charges of Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, and DWI 3 rd Offense, the defendant was sentenced to 8 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. On the charge of Reckless Operation of a Vehicle, the defendant was sentenced to 6 months in the parish jail with credit for time served. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another. It was ordered that 3 years of the said sentenced are to be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence, and the remaining 5 years are to be suspended. Upon release, the defendant is to be placed on 5 years supervised probation.

Assumption Parish:

1. Michael Chauff Jr., 111 Millien St. Donaldsonville, LA., age 34, pled guilty to Simple Burglary (2 counts) and was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served on each count. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another.

2. Manuel Fabre, 128 Cecilia St. Morgan City, LA., age 33, pled guilty to Attempted Theft of Timber and was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Correctionswith credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.

3. Dwayne Jupiter, 101 West Ave. Napoleonville, LA., age 32, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous substance and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. On the charge of Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, the defendant was sentenced to 20 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. On the charge of Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, the defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The imposed sentences are to run concurrent with one another.

4. Kevin Wiggins, 141 Louis Ln. Napoleonville, LA., age 49, pled guilty to Simple Burglary and was sentenced to 9 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

St. James Parish:

St. James Parish had no court news to report this week.
