The facility will return to normal operations with annual recertification and inspections.

Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon is pleased to announce that for the first time in the last five years, the Assumption Parish Detention Center has been re-certified by the Louisiana Department of Corrections. The Sheriff was notified of the action by letter on December 28, 2017. The facility will return to normal operations with annual recertification and inspections. The facility was decertified in 2013 amid a litany of violations the Department of Corrections discovered during a series of inspections. Due to those violations the detention facility was required to undergo quarterly inspections instead of yearly inspections.

The certification covers all facets of facility operations which can include everything from religious counseling, food service, inmate visitations, conditions of the facility, etc.

When Falcon took office, he made many changes including new leadership and he ordered major operational adjustments.

The Sheriff received the recertification on December 28, 2017. The Sheriff wants to thank all employees who worked so hard to attain recertification.
