World's Largest Kayak Tournament Returns to Bridgeside Marina in Grand Isle, La.
CCA Louisiana will host the world’s largest kayak tournament, Ride The Bull, on August 24-25, in Grand Isle. This incredible event is in its 9th year and will be held at Bridgeside Marina.
Ride the Bull has had over 700 anglers participate in the past and is a family-friendly event geared for anglers of all skill levels. All anglers are confined to Caminada Pass near Grand Isle with the goal of catching the heaviest bull red of the day. Once an angler lands the fish, “chase boats” pick up the fish and bring them to the scales at Bridgeside Marina. Once there, the fish is weighed, measured and tagged for the TAG Louisiana program and released back into the pass.
“No matter if you are participant or just watching the festivities from the Grand Isle Bridge or the Marina, this is an event that everyone should see,” said Rad Trascher, CCA Louisiana Director of Development and Ride the Bull Tournament Director. “CCA Louisiana is proud to keep the tradition of Ride the Bull going.”
Registration is now open online with fees at $75 per adult and $65 for kids 17 and under. All early registrants will get a membership to CCA Louisiana, an Aftco high performance t-shirt and goody bag, as well as dinner Friday night and lunch on Saturday. After August 1st the price goes up to $85 per adult.
“Thanks to the incredible generosity of sponsors like Aftco, Wilderness Systems, Academy Sports + Outdoors and The Backpacker, we expect Ride the Bull 9 to be the largest tournament to date,” said Trascher. “None of this would be possible without the Vegas Family and Bridgeside Marina.”
