During the week of November 5-November 9, 2018, the following defendants pled guilty to various charges and were sentenced in the 23rd Judicial District Court, parishes ofAscension, Assumption, and St. James.

Ascension Parish:

1. Melvin Breaux, 129 D’Ville Village Donaldsonville, La., age 35, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance and Simple Burglary. The defendant was sentenced to 36 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 36 months supervised probation.

2. Adrian Bartholomew, 17472 Blossom Trail Prairieville, La., age 24, pled guilty to Possession of a Legend Drug without Prescription or Order and Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 36 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 36 months supervised probation.

3. Crystal Chouest, 345 Avenue C Gonzales, La., age 41, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 24 months supervised probation.

4. Kimberly Roddy, 17295 JT Roddy Rd. Prairieville, La., age 31, pled guilty to False Representation and was sentenced to 24 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 24 months supervised probation.

5. Bobby Pagan, 32380 Cannon Rd. Gonzales, La., age 39, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 12 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

6. Jesston Bannister, 506 West 7th St. Donaldsonville, La., age 23, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 18 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 18 months supervised probation.

7. Cody Loupe, 40177 Black Bayou Ext. Gonzales, La., age 30, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 12 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

8. Travis Conerly, 36600 Pookey Lane Prairieville, La., age 32, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (3 counts), and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

9. Cory Borne, 12105 Chester Braud Rd. St. Amant, La., age 32, pled guilty to Sale, Distribution, or Possession of a Legend Drug without Prescription or Order, Simple Burglary, and Illegal Carrying of Weapons. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

10. Toby Rawls, 37048 Cotton Mill Ave. Geismar, La., age 32, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of Marijuana 1st Offense, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The defendant was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

11. Michael Farr, 11261 Denham Rd. Gonzales, La., age 54, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Possession of Marijuana 3 rd Offense. The defendant was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

12. Jayson Smith, 42420 Weber City Rd. Gonzales, La., age 31, pled guilty to Monetary Instrument Abuse, Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Dangerous Substance, and Domestic Abuse Battery. The defendant was sentenced to 12 months with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 12 months supervised probation.

13. Michael Armour, 191 West 26th St. Reserve, La., age 59, pled guilty to Prohibited Acts; False Representation. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.

14. Charles Matz Jr., 18549 LA Trace Rd. French Settlement, La., age 44, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and was sentenced to 8 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

Assumption Parish:

1. On June 4, 2018, Jeremiah Millien of 213 Hwy 1003 Belle Rose, La., age 37, pled guilty to Possession with Intent to Distribute a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance. Sentencing was deferred to a later date pending a Pre-Sentence Investigation. On November 5, 2018, Millien was sentenced to 15 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The said sentence is to be served without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence.

2. Vernon Gaspard, 135 Elaine St. Morgan City, La., age 43, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 counts) and Possession of a Schedule III Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 1 year with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

The above cases were prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Thomas Daigle, and presiding over these matters was the Honorable Judge Jessie LeBlanc.

St. James Parish:

1. Osmond Brown, 2219 S King Ave. Lutcher, La., age 31, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Accessory After the Fact to Aggravated 2nd Degree Battery. The defendant was sentenced to 5 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 3 years supervised probation.

2. James Simon, 12800 Maple St. Vacherie, La., age 52, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and DWI 1st Offense. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served, to be suspended, and placed on 2 years supervised probation.

3. David Chambers, 1422 Gatehouse St. Baton Rouge, La., age 39, pled guilty to Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of a Schedule I Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

4. Randi Bleakley, 221 E Spur St. Gramercy, La., age 29, pled guilty to Sale, Distribution, or Possession of a Legend Drug without Prescription or Order and Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance. The defendant was sentenced to 2 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served.

5. Nicole Becnel, 13202 Lambert St. Gonzales, La., age 48, pled guilty to Extortion and was sentenced to 3 years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections with credit for time served. The defendant is to serve 1 year of the said sentence, and the remaining 2 years are to be suspended. Upon release, the defendant is to be placed on 2 years supervised probation.
