Ascension Parish Schools Superintendent Donald Songy will retire effective June 30, pending acceptance by the School Board during the regular meeting scheduled Tuesday for 6:30 p.m. at East Ascension High School in Gonzales.
An Executive Committee meeting has been called for after the regular meeting Tuesday night to discuss the superintendent selection process.
In April 2006, the School Board voted 9-0 to name Songy the new superintendent. The decision came after months of interviewing candidates for the position.
