Railroad crossing repairs will resume on Tuesday, July 27 which will result in the closure of southbound LA 70 approximately one mile west of the Sunshine Bridge.
Work is scheduled to continue through Friday, July 30.
According to the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, no traffic will be allowed to pass on LA 70 southbound through this area during the construction period.
Signs will direct motorists to a detour route using LA 3120, LA 18 and LA 3089.
Work was originally scheduled for July 22-25 but was delayed to reopen LA 70 in case it was needed as an emergency route during Tropical Storm Bonnie.
Motorists are advised to proceed with caution through the construction zone during this time, being on the lookout for work crews and equipment.
