On last Saturday, children who attended the Bright Futures Summer Camp displayed a long list of talent for visitors, parents, and friends in a final extravaganza at the Lemann Center.
The program is a year round program, but students are offered more variety during the summer months. This summer, over 140 kids engaged in all types of activities such as: Golf, sewing, cooking, dances, gardening, Spanish, Choir, Art, and Violin.
Kids worked for several weeks to learn music, dances, and other languages to showcase their talent Saturday night.
The theme for the evening was a tribute to the late Michael Jackson. Kids sand his songs, danced to his beats, while others performed salsa dancing, and twinkle, twinkle, little star on the violin. The foyer of the Lemann Center was filled with bright colors of artwork kids worked on it their art classes throughout the summer.
“It’s just a wonderful thing that these kids are learning to read music, play various instruments, and other languages,” said Donna Wheeler, Coordinator for the program. “These kids are truly awesome.”
Wheeler said that the program would not be possible without community partners that helped fund various needed items and sponsored trips.
“I want to thank all of our community partners for making dreams come true for our kids, we cannot thank you enough,” she said.
