Four candidates for Ascension Parish School Board seats have been elected unopposed according to qualifying information from the parish Clerk of Court Office.
District 2 candidate Thomas “Moose” Pierce, a Democrat from Donaldsonville, was elected to the seat formerly held by board member Jody Elisar.
In District 6, two qualifiers, Todd M. Bowen, a St. Amant Republican, and Lorraine Wimberly, a Republican from Gonzales, are running for one vacated board seat, while Jamie L. Bourgeois, a Democrat from St. Amant, and Lorraine Wimberly, a Republican from Gonzales are running for that district’s second vacant seat.
District 6 incumbents Steve Broussard and Harold Jarreau did not seek re-election.
Incumbents elected without opposition were District 3 member Edward “Ed” Price, District 5 member Taft C. Kleinpeter, and District 7 member Patricia “Pat” Russo, and A.J. Nickens of District 5.
Incumbent Democrat Catherine C. Davis of District 1 will see opposition from Dwayne J. Bailey, a Democrat,.
In District 4, incumbent Republican Kerry Diez will be challenged by two women who qualified for the spot, Vickie Tolliver Aguste and Bridget C. Landry, both No Party candidates.
Incumbent John D. Murphy, a Republican will have opposition in District 4 from Harry D. Wright Jr., a Democrat.
Qualifying for the Oct. 2 election ended July 9 at 5 p.m.
In another qualifying, Democrat Randy Any and Republican Stephanie LeBlanc qualified for the election to replace former Town Councilman John Breaux, who resigned his seat.
Also, in Donaldsonville, Democrat Lauthaught A. Delaney, Sr. was elected unopposed in the qualifying for that town’s District 1 Town Council seat.
