MASON, JOSEPH ALEXANDER

Joseph Alexander Mason was entrusted into God’s loving care on July 11, 2010 at his home in Donaldsonville. He was 35 and a welder for Valbar Inc. He is survived by his loving fiancée Nancy Beneditto, his mother, Lula Mason, three brothers: Troy, Alvin, and Bobby Mason, and family and friends. Proceeded in death by his grandfathers, Joe Mason and W. Millien, and his grandmother, Ella Mae Millien. Joseph had a heart of gold, and a smile just the same. He would give of himself and not expect anything in return. All who knew him will dearly miss him. God has truly taken one of his angels home.

NICHOLAS, MEREDITH J.

 

Meredith Juan Landrum Nicholas, 66, of Flowood, formerly of Laurel, died Wednesday, August 11, 2010, in Flowood. Funeral services were held Saturday, August 14 at 10:30 a.m. at Memory Chapel with burial at Good Hope Cemetery in Jones County where Rev. Bill Myers officiated.

 Noel Joseph Denoux Sr., age 89, of Gulfport died Tuesday, June 1 in Biloxi. He was born in Donaldsonville, and had been a resident of Gulfport for six months moving from New Orleans.

  Donnie Joseph Vaughn passed away at the early age of 57, on Thursday evening, April 22, 2010, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Berkley "B.J." "Frenchie" Arceneaux was called home at the age of 85 on Feb 22, 2010. He is a former resident of Thibodeaux and Donaldsonville. He was residing in Baton Rouge upon departure. Arceneaux is a native of Bayou Blue. B.J. was a WWII veteran serving in the army.

Willie Eloi Robert Jr.

A resident of Baton Rouge and native of Bayou Goula, he died Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at Our Lady of Lake Regional Medical Center at age 99.

James “Cheese” Collins Daigle

Daigle, Collins James “Cheese”, age 50, a loving husband and devoted father, he passed away at 1:50 a.m. at his home on February 15, 2010, surrounded by his family and friends. He was an industrial plant electrician, gunsmith, and La State Concealed Weapon and Personal Protection Instructor.

Local attorney dies in head-on crash

Nathan Folse of Baton Rouge was pronounced dead at the scene when an 18-wheeler struck his vehicle on highway 70 near the Sunshine Bridge in St. James Parish last Friday afternoon.

Bouchereau, June Glaubrecht

June Glaubrecht Bouchereau, 78, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was a native of Jeanerette and resident of Donaldsonville. She was a graduate of ULL with a master degree plus 30 in Education and a graduate of Nicholls State University with a master degree in Administration and Supervision. June was an Ascension Parish elementary school teacher for 20 years, however her love for children continued as she was named the first Director of The Donaldsonville Area Association for Retarded Citizens (DAARC). She began with a hand full of clients in the mid 1970’s and served over 60 clients at the time of her retirement in 1992. She remained on the board of directors until 2002 and was instrumental in the establishment of the Mary Marcombe Home for mentally challenged adult clients. She was honored with the Legacy Award at the National Philanthropy Day Award Luncheon in November 2004 in recognition of her enduring contribution to the community and DAARC. Among her many hobbies, flower gardening, cooking, crafts, and bridge tournaments with her dearest friends were her favorite. However, the real lights of her life were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Our family would like to thank the staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital for the wonderful and compassionate care shown to our mother and family at this difficult time. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Lynn Paul Bouchereau; a daughter Lori Bouchereau Templet and husband Kevin; three sons Terry Bouchereau and wife Janelle, Paul Bouchereau and wife Karen, and Larry Bouchereau and wife Tina; ten grandchildren Jason Templet, Scott Templet and wife Leah, Ted Bouchereau and wife Brandi, Todd Bouchereau and wife Rebecca, Toby, Ali, Leah, Ross, Ryan, and Reid Bouchereau; and five great grandchilren Andon, Annabelle, and Alexander Templet and Haley and Evan Bouchereau. She is preceded in death by her parents George and Eleanor Glaubrecht; two brothers Calvin and George Glaubrecht; and a grandson Chad Templet. Visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Smokebend from 8 a.m. till Mass of Christian Burial at noon. Bahry, Hattie LeBlanc

A resident of Donaldsonville and retired manager of Bahry’s Department Store in

Donaldsonville, she passed away on Monday, December 28th while at home under Hospice care.

Mrs. Bahry was born June 26, 1919 in Napoleonville. Visitation at Ourso Funeral Home,

Donaldsonville on Thursday, December 31 from 8:00 AM to 10:45 AM followed by Mass of

Christian Burial at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church, Donaldsonville at 11:00 AM.   She

is survived by daughters, Yvonne Caballero; Patricia LeBlanc and husband, Mervin; Peggy

Guillot and husband, Don; and sons, Ede Bahry, Jr. and wife Mary Ann; John Bahry; and

Michael Bahry and wife Michele; 20 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. She is also

survived by sisters, Ruby Boudreaux and Ann Ford; and brothers, Arthur, Charles and Maurice

LeBlanc. She was preceded in death by husband, Ede Bahry; granddaughter, Shawn E. Guillot;

son-in-law, Wade J. Caballero; sisters, Alene Schillaci, Inez Blanchard  and Mable Martin;

brothers, Philip and Eddie LeBlanc; and parents, Maurice E. and Hattie Coleman LeBlanc.

Visitation and wake of Ida Celine Savoie Edlefsen, who passed away on Sunday, 12-27-09, will be held on Tuesday, 12-29-09, at Thibodaux Funeral Home’s Chapel from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm.  A Rosary and Prayer Service will begin on the same evening at 8:30 pm at the funeral home.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, 12-30-09, at St. Joseph Co-Cathedral in Thibodaux, LA at 11:00 am followed by interment in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Joining Ida's husband and children as survivors are her three grandchildren, Jack, Sawyer and Amelie Dickins of Little Rock, AR; seven sisters, Beverly Savoie Hunley of Covington, LA ; Charleen Savoie (Wiggin) Holder of Taos, NM; Prados Savoie (Richard) Eckert of Baton Rouge, LA; Suzanne Savoie Tierney of Lafayette, LA; Renee L. Savoie of Youngsville, LA; Lucie Savoie Elfervig of Germantown, TN; Marie Savoie Berry of Belle Rose, LA; and three brothers, Clarence J. Savoie II of Paincourtville, LA; Charles C. Webb, Sybil E.

A resident of Gonzales and retired primary school secretary with the Ascension Parish School System, she passed away at her home on Thursday, December 3, 2009. She was 67 and a native of Donaldsonville. Visitation was held at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales on Saturday, December 5 from 9 a.m. until religious services in the chapel at 1 p.m., Rev. Ken Spivey officiating. Interment followed in Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Prairieville. She is survived by her husband, Fred W. Webb, Sr.; daughter, Wendy Webb Kling and her husband Myron “Tut” Kling; three sons, F. Wayne Webb, Jr. and his wife Aimee, Ward Webb and his wife Nita, and Gordon “Andy” Webb, III and his wife Michelle; two sisters, June “Pupy” Tircuit and her husband Roy and Kathleen “Beetsy” Plaisance and her husband Donald; 12 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. JAMES COLEMAN, a retired finisher and a lifelong resident of Donaldsonville, died on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 6:40 p.m. at his home at the age of 68. Visiting at Demby&Son Funeral Home on Friday, Nov. 20 from 4-6 p.m. Visitng continues at Buena Vista Baptist Church, Lemanville on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. conducted by Rev. Dr. Joseph Coleman. Interment in church cemetery. Survived by one daughter and son-in-law Lucretia W. and Darrell Wire, one son and daughter-in-law Emery and Renee Coleman, four sisters, six brothers, five grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. MARCHAND, VIOLET MAE LEBLANC “MINO”

VIOLET MAE LEBLANC “MINO” MARCHAND- beloved mother, retired teacher and principal at Donaldsonville High School, she died Nov. 10. She was 91 years old, born in Smoke Bend June 27, 1918. She was the youngest of 11 children born to Michael Paul LeBlanc and Elmire Dugas LeBlanc. She graduated from St. Vincent Institute in Donaldsonville, St. Mary’s Dominican College, and Nicholls State University. She was married in 1945 to Sidney Albert Marchand Jr., and of this marriage hier six children were born: Anne Marie, wife of Glenn Jones; Sidney Albert III, husband of Susan Russo; John Clement; Paul Carver;  James Edwards; and Dorothy Elizabeth, wife of John Bassett. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Beth Cline, David Cline, Sidney Marchand IV, MD, Max Marchand, Grear Wilson, Abigail Wilson, and Natalie Wilson, five great-grandchildren, and one sister, Hilda LeBlanc Heath of St. Amant.
Preceded in death by her husband in 1956, parents and siblings Beulah Rome, Leonard LeBlanc, Bernice Falcon, Perci LeBlanc, MD, Myrtle LeBlanc, Conrad LeBlanc, Hanson LeBlanc, Hortense Ramirez, and Dorothy LeBlanc.
