The ACHS Bulldogs unveiled its new spread offense at the All Catholic Jamboree at Redemptorist in Baton Rouge, with mixed results.
Donaldsonville running back Tre Brown scored on a 27-yard run with 46 seconds remaining to bring the Tigers of Class 2A within a point of Class 5A Denham Springs Thursday night at Spartan Stadium in Gonzales.

Donaldsonville’s own, Champlain Babin was one of the 14 players from McNeese State to be named to the Southland Conference 2010 pre-season all-league team. Babin is a graduate of Donaldsonville High School, and now attends McNeese State University.

Joyy Joseph, a 2008 graduate of Ascension Catholic High School, has made the cut for Xavier University of Louisiana’s volleyball team. After Hurricane Katrina, the volleyball program vanished, but now with first year Coach Al’lisa Hale, she has selected ten recruits for the new season. This will be Xavier’s third season of intercollegiate volleyball but the first since 2004.
The Donaldsonville 11 & 12 year olds went undefeated and placed first in the District Tournament held in Plaquemine on June 24 -June 29, 2010. The boys first game was against Twin River (10-9). They faced Westside and defeated Westside (15-2) which moved them into the championship game against Twin River where they defeated Twin River 16-4 to capture the District Title.
It was broiling hot day for Sunshine Bass Club's 6th tournament of
2010. The tournament was held from Adams Landing at Belle River with
the club fishermen competing in the spillway and in the Belle River area.
Chad Porto brought in the only 5 bass limit weighing in at 14
lbs,10 oz. to claim first place.
The Annual Juneteenth Celebration will take place this Saturday, June 12 beginning at 10 a.m.

Vic Calvaruso made it two victories in a row by winning Sunshine Bass Club’s fifth tournament of 2010.
Last Thursday Donaldsonville track and field team traveled to LSU for the state track meet. The boys placed fourth overall.
Devon Breaux not only excels in school, but also is an avid football, basketball, and track star. Breaux has led his Donaldsonville High Tigers to the top in every sport he has participated in.
The Ascension Catholic Baseball team, coached by Todd Landry, Larry Dunn, Ricky Bolotte, and Andy Ramagos, has maintained their ranking of second in the state since March.
Ascension Catholic Bulldogs finished the season with a 12-0 victory last Thursday as they dominated against St. John of Plaquemine. They claimed the title of district 8-1A champions.

Members of the Donaldsonville High track team will be attending the prestigious Texas Relays in Austin Texas this weekend. For most of the students this is the first time they have been to a University outside of Louisiana.
It was a cold, very windy day for Sunshine Bass Club's third tournament of the year on Sunday, March 22. Despite the poor conditions 15 local anglers competed in the event held from Dolron's Landings in Stephenville.
Last Friday Tigers participated in the Scotlandville Invite at Scotlandville High. The boys’ team took second overall and started the outdoor season on the right track. The field events started the meet off with great success. Devon Breaux, sophomore, took first in both long jump and triple jump leaping 22 feet and 38 feet 11 inches respectively. He was runner up in high jump soaring six feet in the air.
"I can not say what the problem was in the game because I do not know," said Tigers Head Coach Gregory Hill.
Last Friday Jonesboro Hodge High hosted the Donaldsonville Tigers in the quarterfinal round of playoffs. Jonesboro Hodge took an 86-56 victory over Donaldsonville. The game came out to a great start for Donaldsonville. At the end of the first quarter they lost their rhythm and fought hard to get it back.
