Ty Morris, 11 years old, killed a 12-point buck on Jan. 13, 2012 in Clinton making a 150 yard shot.
He is the grandson of Ronnie and Sandra Morris.
The ACHS Boys’ Basketball team completed a season sweep of their rival, the St. John Eagles, with a 65-58 score in Donaldsonville. ACHS fell behind after the 1st quarter 20-15 and trailed 34-30 at the half. The Bulldogs used a 25 point 3rd quarter to take a 55-45 lead going into the last quarter. Freshmen Jeremy Jones scorched the Eagles for 28 points, including four 3 pointers. Freshmen Delmond Landry had 16 points and 13 boards. Freshmen DeAndre Francis sparked ACHS with 12 points and 10 boards in his best offensive performance of the season. Junior Thomas Gros had 3 points followed by Freshmen Jaquil Wade with 2. Freshmen Patrick Butler had 5 assists to lead ACHS. The Bulldogs went to 9-11 overall and 3-3 in District 9A. ACHS will be on the road at #3 White Castle on Friday February 3.
Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Donaldsonville Lady Tigers and the visiting St. Charles Catholic Comets saw Donaldsonville's basketball squad knock off St. Charles Catholic by a score of 41-32.

Do you remember when basketball shorts stopped above the knee or when cheerleader skirts stopped about mid calf? If you were an athlete during these golden days, your time in the athletic spotlight has probably come and gone. Gone are the days of toe punting footballs and wooden baseball bats, but just because your fondest sporting memories are decades old, it doesn’t mean you can’t relive the glory days.
The ACHS Bulldogs beat District 9A newcomer Ascension Christian 60-44 in Donaldsonville this past Friday night. The Dogs and Lions went back and forth in the 1st half and ACHS held a 28-26 lead at the half.
At the Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s (LHSAA) annual convention in January 2010, the member schools’ principals decided to make changes to the high school state basketball championship tournaments. In previous years, the girls’ and boys’ teams played their semi-final games during different weeks and at various locations.
The ACHS Bulldogs traveled to Livonia for their last non district game and beat Class 3A Livonia 38-34 this past Friday night. The Bulldogs trailed 24-16 at the half but rallied in the second half and outscored the Wildcats 22-10. Freshmen Delmond Landry led ACHS with 15 points followed by Junior Thomas Gros with nine, Freshmen Patrick Butler and Jeremy Jones each had seven. The Bulldogs used a zone and man defense to stifle Livonia in the second half. ACHS finishes the pre district schedule with a 6-8 record and will begin district play on the road this week. The Bulldogs will travel to ST John on Tuesday and East Iberville on Friday. District 9A will be very strong with defending Class A champ White Castle, regular playoff contender East Iberville and St John, Ascension Christian and West St John fielding competitive teams. First year head coach Tom Bodart and Assistant Coach Courtney Brown coaches the Bulldogs. Brown played at Donaldsonville High and West Alabama. Bodart was an assistant last season and this is his first head coaching job.
The ACHS Boys’ Basketball team held off Maurepas 42-41 this past Thursday in Donaldsonville. ACHS led 28-13 at the half and withstood a rally by the Wolves in the fourth quarter. Freshmen Delmond Landry led ACHS with 17 points, 11 rebounds and six blocks. Freshmen Jeremy Jones chipped in with nine points and six boards. Junior Thomas Gros had nine points, three assists and three steals. Rounding out the scoring for ACHS was Freshmen Patrick Butler with five and Jacquel Wade with two.
The ACHS Lady Bulldogs trailed 19-16 at the half but saw the Lady Lions pull away in the third quarter at Ascension Catholic High School. The Lady Bulldogs were outscored 17-6 in the third quarter. ACHS was led by Freshmen Jordan Brown with 11 points, Junior Amber Carter had 8 followed by 8th grader Rashaun Malancon with six. Sophomore Kaitlyn Mistretta had four, Junior Kaitlyn Cayette had four and Sophomore Kyra Jones had one point. ACHS dropped to 4-11 on the season. The Lady Bulldogs will begin district play on January 10 at St John of Plaquemine.
Congratulations goes out to Senior QB and Tulane Commitment Devon Breaux of Donaldsonville High for making the LSWA Class 3A All State Team. Breaux completed his senior year in style with 2,672 yards passing and 24 touchdowns. Several of those touchdowns were caught by Sophomore Receiver Leondre James, as he was selected to the Honorable Mention Class 3A All State team.
The Donaldsonville Tigers and the ACHS Bulldogs football teams had individual players selected to the first and second teams for the 2011 season. Senior QB Devon Breaux represented the Tigers on the first team. Breaux was selected as the 7-3A Offensive MVP. Beaux led the state in passing and is a Tulane football commitment. Sophomore WR Leondre James, Senior OL Devin Allen and Senior RB Tre’ Brown were first team selections as well.
The Donaldsonville Tigers and the ACHS Bulldogs were represented the 10th Annual U.S. Army Red Stick Bowl this past Saturday. Senior Kicker Robert Landry represented ACHS. Landry made a 32 yard field goal and an extra point for the Rough Riders. Landry also played in the defensive backfield for his team.
Senior QB Devon Breaux, Senior RB Tre Brown and Senior OL Javon Thompson represented the Rough Riders as well. The Black Knights won 31-16. Congratulations to each player for representing their respective schools.
The Tigers battled the Bulldogs in Tiger territory this past Monday night. The Tigers boys and girls defeated the Bulldogs. The boys managed a win of 78-45, but in the first half the competition was close. When the Tigers returned for the second half they quickly took a 10-point lead difference and maintained throughout the game.
THe ACHS Boys' Basketball team lost a heartbreaker 44-42 to Maurepas in the Maurepas Invitational this past weekend.
AMIkids Donaldsonville traveled to Alexandria to compete in the 2011 AMIkids Louisiana State Flag Football tournament last week. They were victorious.
The Ascension Catholic Cross Country Team traveled to Natchitoches, La. On November, 15 to compete in the LHSAA Cross Country State Championship.
Derrick Riley of the Donaldsonville youth Tigers was named MVP of the Bulldog Bowl in New Orleans. Coached by Spencer Harvey. The tigers won the championship game 46-2.
