Jan. 23 is the last day Ascension Parish teachers can apply for the Eatel Corp. “Reach a Kid, Teach a Kid” grant program.
The program offers 10 $500 grants for teachers to implement “creative projects that enhance classroom learning,” according to a news release from Eatel.
Any public, private or parochial teacher working in Ascension Parish can apply.
Winners will be notified on Jan. 30. The grants programs should be scheduled for implementation during the 2011-2012 school year.
Applications can be submitted online at http://www.eatel.com/reachakid.
Applicants are required to provide a project description, needs fulfillment and student benefits, Russell said. Submissions are awarded on creativity in meeting a specific curriculum challenge. Projects must also produce measurable learning benefits for the students involved, a release states.
