By His Grace

“My hand has made both earth and skies, and they are mine. Yet I will look with pity on the man who has a humble and a contrite heart, who trembles at my word.” Isaiah 66:2 TLB

Does man no longer fear the lord, the one who has been given authority in all of heaven and earth, whose name is above all names, where every knee shall bow before him?

When did God change? His commands do not differ over time; nor has God’s word become negotiable.

“The lord your God will make you abundantly prosperous in all the work of your hand, in the fruit of your womb and in the fruit of your cattle and in the fruit of your ground. For the lord will again take delight in prospering you, as he took delight in your fathers, when you obey the voice of the lord your God, to keep his commandments and his statutes that are written in this book of the law, when you turn to the lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.” Deuteronomy 30:9-10 ESV

It has been said that epic events such as Hurricane Katrina, 9/11 and most recently Hurricane Harvey are twists of fate. Others believe they are the hand of God. You may agree to disagree with either opinion. Ask yourself if you can recognize the handwriting of God when such events occur.

When the children of Israel, who experienced first-hand the love of God, rebelled through disobedience, turning from him, he sent warnings first through the prophets that were disregarded (Ezekiel 2:1-10). Some (no disrespect to anyone) may even consider events fake news. Calamity of major proportion swiftly befalls those in its pathways leading to destruction, all due to man’s stubbornness and pride and resistance to the correction of the lord.

“Whoever remains stiff-necked after many rebukes will suddenly be destroyed -- without remedy.” Proverbs 29:1 NIV

The United States was founded on biblical principles, where the very fabric of our great nation is

embedded with doctrine. Our founding fathers' intentions appeared to pattern our nation on that of the children of Israel. In conducting our government, businesses and family lives righteously, our nation would be blessed and would prosper. There is always blessing that follows our obedience to God. If not, our land and those who inhabit it will be cursed (Deuteronomy 28).

When we eliminate God from our lives, we turn toward lawlessness. This is not the plan of God for his children. He gave up his one and only son for our salvation to be reconciled with him for eternity. It is imperative now more than ever that we draw near to the lord. Acknowledge him in all we do. Remember we are never in control; he is (Genesis 1:1).

"The time of Christ's return is drawing near. But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the son, but only the father.” However, through God’s infinite love, he has provided his children signs of the second coming of Christ.

I ask again when that time comes, will you recognize the signs?

Will you be ready? Only those in Christ Jesus will not be caught off guard.

If you are unsure, allow me to extend an invitation to experience the love of God.

Please repeat this prayer: “Lord Jesus, forgive my sins I committed against you. I believe Jesus died for my sins and has risen again. Please come into my life and heart and lead the way. I confess you as my lord and savior from this day forward. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

Welcome into the family of Christ.

Until next week, go forth and proclaim Jesus as lord.
