CASA needs volunteers

The Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program of Child Advocacy Services needs volunteers to be the voice for abused and neglected children in their community. A CASA is appointed by a family court judge to speak on the best interests of abused and neglected children. Currently there are over 30 children in our Ascension, Assumption and St. James parishes that need a CASA. There will be an open house at our Napoleonville office located in Assumption Parish on October 28 from 10 a.m. to noon. The office is located at 5928 Highway 1 Napoleonville, LA 70390 in the same building as Bella Vita Salon. Interested parties should come by to learn more about this amazing program or call 985-369-2502 to set up an informational session with CASA Recruiter Krisy Rice to learn more about how your voice is needed to help these children navigate their way through the court system. On average, CASA volunteers spend approximately 10 hours a month gathering factual information from the child and important people in the child’s life, such as teachers, foster parents, and professionals. CASA volunteers understand a safe and permanent home is the most important goal and volunteering can make a difference in the life of an abused child. Visit
