57-year-old Jesse Lowrance and his granddaughter, 6-year-old Kenley Lowrance, were discovered inside the home.

The State Fire Marshal reported November 16 that a severe fire occurred in the living room of a home in Denham Springs, leaving two people dead and two wounded.

57-year-old Jesse Lowrance and his granddaughter, 6-year-old Kenley Lowrance, were discovered inside the home, located at 7752 Curry Davis Drive.

53-year-old Deborah Lowrance, and her 13-year-old granddaughter escaped, but were reportedly transported to the Baton Rouge General Burn Center for treatment of serious injuries. The granddaughter was further transported to University Health in Shreveport, La.

The bodies of the deceased were released to the Livingston Parish Coroner after investigation.

The State Fire Marshal reported that the home did not have working smoke detectors, and that the fire began in the living room. Smoke was said to be "billowing" from the windows when the fire department arrived.

However it was stated November 16 that this investigation is still underway. It was originally reported that the 13-year-old granddaughter was transferred to Shriner's Hospital in Galveston, Texas and later corrected via email.
