Immediately after, the homeowner thanked DFC Tyson on social media for his kind acts and going above and beyond.

Congratulations to Deputy First Class Chad Tyson who was a recipient of the 2018 Beyond the Badge Heart Law Enforcement Awards.

DFC Tyson and ten other deputies from around the state were honored today for going beyond the badge for acts of kindness they performed during the past year.

DFC Tyson responded to a verbal disturbance call and after making sure everyone was safe, the homeowner began to vent her frustration to DFC Tyson which were financial problems. The homeowner mentions to DFC Tyson that she can't even iron clothes due to not being able to afford an iron, among other things.

The next day, remembering what the homeowner said, DFC Tyson returned to the residence with several household items that he and his wife purchased, including an iron and ironing board, and left them on the front porch of the residence.

Immediately after, the homeowner thanked DFC Tyson on social media for his kind acts and going above and beyond.

Beyond the Badge is a non-profit organization that educates the public about ordinary law enforcement officers performing extraordinary acts of kindness in their communities.

DFC Tyson began his career with the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office in July 2007 as a patrol deputy. He has also worked in the school security division.
