LA 44 Lane Closures

Construction has begun for State Project H.009956 LA 44: Turn Lanes is in Ascension Parish for a length of 1.235 miles. The type of work is clearing and grubbing, grading, drainage structures, milling asphalt pavement, pavement patching, class II base course, lime treatment, portland cement concrete pavement, asphalt concrete pavement, drilled shaft foundations, traffic signalization, and related work at a cost of $3,501,304.95. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that there will be outside lane closures on LA 44 at the intersection of LA 935 for the between Wednesday (October 31st) and Friday (November 2nd). These closures are necessary in order for the contractor to install new signal mast arms at the intersection. The closures will take place between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm and thru traffic will be allowed on LA 44 and LA 935 in all other open lanes with the exception of stopping traffic temporarily while the signal mast arms are put in place, estimating to take approximately 2-5 minutes. Due to weather this has been extended to Tuesday, November 6 and Wednesday, November 7.

Veteran's Day Gonzales

On Sunday, November 11 the Ascension Veterans Memorial Park Foundation will host a Veterans Day observance at Veterans Park, Gonzales, LA at 11 a.m. The AVMP Foundation would like to extend an invitation for you and your family to attend this event. Guest Speaker will be Mr. Troy Broussard, AARP Louisiana Director-Advocacy & Outreach and Desert Storm veteran. Refreshments will be provided after the ceremony. Grand Marshals will be veterans Richard Webre, US Army retired; Randy Webre, veteran of the Louisiana Army National Guard; and Bobby Webre US Army and Operation Urgent Fury (Grenada) veteran. Wreaths Across America

On Saturday at December 15, 2018 members of the Ascension Parish Community will gather together to honor veterans during the holiday season as part of the annual Wreaths Across America Day. The ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. at the Ascension Veterans Memorial Park, 612 S. Irma Blvd, Gonzales, La. Donations and specific requests are now being accepted for Ascension Parish’s 4th annual Wreaths Across America event. The wreaths are $15.00 each. Local Governor's Appointment

Kate V. MacArthur, of Geismar, was appointed to the Louisiana Board of International Commerce. MacArthur is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Ascension Economic Development Corporation. As required by statute, she was nominated by the Ascension Chamber of Commerce and will serve as a representative of economic development organizations in the state.

Gonzales Youth Basketball

The City of Gonzales Youth Basketball League has scheduled registrations at City Hall on November 3, 10, and 17. Times will be 9 a.m. until noon each day. Cost of registration is $50.
