At this point you just want to shake the person and say, "Where is your faith?"

"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us." Hebrews 12:1 NIV

What is a rein? An attachable strap intended to guide its object in limited movement while maintaining control. Those familiar with a rein would associate it with an animal such as a horse or ox. I am referring to the invisible rein put in place through our own doing. It is our inability to let go of that which is unhealthy emotionally, physically, and spiritually that limits our movements in our walk with Christ.

Have you ever held a conversation with a person who confesses to be a believer and read the word, but when trying to encourage them, they tend to end the subject with a defeated response?

No matter what is said on your behalf, including supporting scripture, the conversations always goes left with a negative reply.

At this point you just want to shake the person and say, "Where is your faith?"

Begin by asking this question, "What does the word of God means to you?"

Is it something you can trust explicitly? I pray the answer is a resounding yes.

The word of God is truth where there is no doubt or confusion of its intent. "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."

God's promises never come back empty or unfulfilled. They always have a purpose that will come to pass.

Unfortunately life's challenges tend to gain a bigger voice than God's promise when it comes to better quality of life. And it becomes relatively easy to fall into the woe-is-me mentality. The enemy will then have an outlet to use against you to create doubt in God, his faithfulness and love. For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Let's look at this verse a bit closer.

The lord begins by announcing for all to hear he has created an intricate and detailed life in you and me like no other. He set us apart with a purpose, plan and pursuit that we must live.

"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." Ephesians 2:10 NIV

The challenges many have is we want to enjoy life without all the pushback it brings with it. If you never go through a challenge in life, how you will know if you can overcome it? Don't avoid uncomfortable situations, confront them head-on with the word as you trust in the lord to guide you.

"When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you." Isaiah 43:2 NKJV

The lord goes on to formally proclaim his plans for us to guarantee our success in life and include only that which is good.

Never follow up a promise of God with an "If" or "But." You nullify the blessing. We are to get into full agreement with his words. Boldly proclaim the word of God regardless of how you feel or think. If you and I speak life over all situations we will eventually begin to witness the power of prayer.

"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." Ephesians 4:29 NIV

The lord completes his promise with a gift: certainty of a prosperous and victorious life filled with his unfailing love. But first believe and trust in him. In 2019, lay down the rein, setting aside negative thoughts and speech. "Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." Proverbs 18:21

It is your season to live a life of joy, peace, and happiness.

You may ask how one accomplishes this new lifestyle unsure of your relationship with Christ.

To begin, you must confess Jesus as lord and savior. You may ask why we need to confess. God knows what is in our heart. There is no other way to the father but through the son. "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."

Please repeat this prayer: "Lord Jesus, forgive my sins I committed against you. I believe Jesus died for my sins and has risen again. Please come into my life and heart and lead the way. I confess you as my lord and savior from this day forward. In Jesus' name, amen."

Welcome into the family of Christ.

Until next week, be blessed and continue to bless others along the way. Shalom.
