The best news is that the working model of the Lock has been totally restored and should be installed back in the Lock by October 1. School groups wanting to tour the Lock should call Stan Richardson at the Lock at 225-687-7158.

The Plaquemine Lock State Historic Site has seen a large increase in visitors this year over 2018.

Sometime in September they plan to hit last year's total.

The Plaquemine Lock State Historic Site is operated under a joint venture between the Louisiana Department of State Parks, Iberville Parish Council, and the City of Plaquemine.

The Friends of the Plaquemine Lock thank Iberville Parish President J. Mitchell Ourso Jr., the Parish Council, Plaquemine Mayor Edwin M. "Ed" Reeves, Jr. and the Plaquemine City Council for keeping the Plaquemine Lock State Historic Site open to the public.
