Donaldsonville World War II Vet recognized by parish

Ascension Parish President Kenny Matassa proclaimed July 4, 2016 as “Andrew LeBlanc, Sr. Day” in Ascension Parish.

Matassa presented the proclamation to Mr. LeBlanc during the July 7 parish council meeting in Donaldsonville. LeBlanc celebrated his 90th birthday on July 4 and was joined by his sons for the presentation.

LeBlanc served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was stationed in the Philippines. Following the war, he returned to Donaldsonville and worked as a pipefitter in local industry while devoting himself to local veterans’ activities. LeBlanc married Virgie Trepagnier in January of 1948 at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church. He has always been known locally as an avid hunter and taxidermist, and has provided his skills for other hunters in the area.
