Black History Month
We are celebrating Black History Month at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Darryl Hambrick was the guest speaker at Emmanuel Baptist Church. Speaking on time was the focus of his message. We must always keep in mind that time changes each second of everyday and we should learn from the past in order to prepare for the future. The message was well delivered in an appropriate amount of time. The congregation wore African attire in celebration, also. The liturgical dancers performed as well as members of the Sunday school that read what Black History was about.
Devin Rome was the guest speaker on February 7. Devin is a recruiter with Shell Chemical Plant in Norco. Her job is to educate future employees of the jobs that are available at Shell. Rome stated that you can obtain the education you need from a two-year college and that it is not always necessary to get a four-year degree. Rome was the guest of Rotarian Theo Dennis.
At the February 14 Rotary Club meeting Rotarian David Dubreuil’s guest speaker was Lauren Marschall, Project and Operations Manager at Center for Planning Excellence (CPEX) and currently working with the Ascension Parish Master Land Use Plan. Accompanying her was Edward Anthony. Marschall has contributed to many CPEX projects such as planning of neighborhood transportation, streetscape demonstration projects, and mapping.
