Disney Channel's smash hit musical comes to life on the Ascension Community Theatre stage! The show opens as the Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes find their cliques, recounts their vacations, and look forward to the new year with the opening number "Start of Something New."

With a plot described by the author and numerous critics as a modern adaptation of Romeo & Juliet, High School Musical is the irresistible story of two teenagers - Troy, super-popular captain of the basketball team, and Gabriella, super-smart transfer student and a genius in science class - who try to navigate the tricky currents of peer pressure to follow their dream and score the leads in the big school show.

The production, which features a cast of 38 performers and a live orchestra, includes all of the favorite characters and songs from the movie, plus two new songs written especially for the stage. All this combines to make High School Musical a must-see for every fan of the movie and theatre-goer alike.

A.C.T. is very proud to have the numerous talents on stage and off stage. The production will have 10 performances and will run July 31 through August 10 at the historic Pasqua Theatre, 823 Felicity St. Gonzales, La.
