Sullivan seeks re-election as Mayor of Donaldsonville

Leroy Sullivan Sr. recently announced he will seek re-election as Mayor of the City of Donaldsonville, a position that he has held for the past four years.

"I humbly and proudly re-submit myself for re-election as your mayor of the city of Donaldsonville," Sullivan said. "I am asking for your continued prayers, vote and support as we continue as a team to make Donaldsonville the very best that it can and will be. Serving you as mayor has been my highest honor. Collectively, we have placed our beloved city on the right track headed in the right direction."

Mayor Sullivan has an impressive record of working with our congressional delegation, state legislative delegation and parish officials resulting in a noticeable increase in economic development and job training with employment opportunities.

During Sullivan's administration, the community has welcomed a new Wal-Mart, Walgreen's, Wendy's and other retail stores. Chef John Folse's Food Processing Plant has also expanded. These businesses have brought over 400 newly created jobs to the city of Donaldsonville.

In addition, Mayor Sullivan has been a champion for educational excellence. He acted as a liaison between concerned parents and the school board by hosting public forums to address the issues that affect the children of the city of Donaldsonville. He has present and ongoing negotiations with River Parishes Community College and Louisiana Technical College to bring a vocational and technical school to Donaldsonville.

Sullivan has been the catalyst for unity and teamwork between the Mayor's office and the City Council. He worked with the council to provide professional development opportunities and affordable health care benefits for city employees.

Through the administration - council partnership, Donaldsonville has also gained significant capital improvements, including resurfaced roads, new road equipment, a new street sweeper, a new fire truck and fire equipment, code enforcement vehicles and equipment and new bleachers for the Lemann Memorial Center.

Mayor Sullivan pledges in his next term, he will continue his teamwork approach, focusing on continued economic development, education and capital improvement efforts. He will additionally launch new initiatives to increase public safety and crime prevention.

Sullivan is the son of the late Leonard Sullivan and Leola Sullivan. He is the father of five children; LaTonya, Leroy Jr., Nyla, Tre` and Trent. He has three grandchildren; DaJhe`, Tayvian and Jamari.

Sullivan is a lifelong member of Mount Zion Baptist Church where he serves on the Deacon Board. He is a 26-year employee of CF Industries where he was employed as a supervisor and has completed numerous management-training courses at Louisiana State University.

"As your mayor, I will continue our shared vision through quality leadership to make Donaldsonville a place every citizen can be proud to call home," Sullivan said.
