Local baby graces the pages of Baby Talk Magazine

Allison B. Hudson

Bryce Allen is not your typical 13-month-old baby from Belle Rose. He is the finalist of Baby Talk Magazine’s “2010 Cover Baby.”

Allen, along with over 15,000 contest entries, entered the contest and after the closest race in contest history, baby Bryce lost first prize by only 48 votes. Even though he lost the contest, he is still seen as the youngest star back home in Louisiana, Belle Rose to be exact.

Photographers and judges said it was Bryce’s natural demeanor in front of the camera when he was photographed in New York City last month.

His parents, Meshuner Wilson and Bruce Allen are subscribers to Baby Talk Magazine, and said that is how they found out about the contest.

“We had to send a photo of Bryce, and out of 50,000 photos, they were to choose eight babies who would travel to New York for a photo shoot to determine the winner,” said his mom. “After the top three finalist were chosen, the public decided the winning factor by voting online.”

Bryce wowed everyone he came in contact with, while his on-set nickname was “Mr. Personality.” The judges were influenced by his southern charm, but America decided on Isla Schultz, an 11-month-old from Rochester, New York as the winner.

“Bryce is a handsome, charming, and very photogenic,” says his mom. “He loves to play and dress debonair.”

Allen is the son of Meshuner Wilson and Bruce Allen, and the grandson of Stephanie and Bruce Allen and Aretha Williams.
