1954 classes of St. Vincent Institute and Catholic High School in Donaldsonville celebrates 60-year reunion

The 1954 classes of St. Vincent Institute and Catholic High School in Donaldsonville celebrated their 60-year reunion on Aug. 2 at the home of Don and Barbara Schexnayder Delaville in Baton Rouge. The year 1954 was the last school year the boys and girls were in separate schools, with the girls taught by the Sisters of Charity and boys taught by the Brothers of the Sacred Heart.

The next year the two schools were consolidated as Ascension Catholic High School.

Girls attending were (seated left to right): Sylil Milano Savoie, Rose Marie Sotile Sheppard, Barbara Schexnayder Delaville, Elodie Granier Marrero, Rosina Truxillo Kiefer. (Standing) Grace Reynaud Garon and Eleanor Burns Darce Perkins. Unable to attend were: Betty Bonin Dugas, Agnes Breaux Schexnayder, Maxine Denoux Bourgoyne, Diane Gilbert Tureaud, Barbara Guillot Faunce, Annette Kern Gamble and Beulah Truxillo Oncale. Deceased classmates are Jacqueline McGurie, Geraldine Guillot Milano, Margaret Montero Martin and Virgier Lee Rodrigue Scioneaux.

Boys attending were: Bruno Ruggiero, Paul Melancon, Lester Poirrier, Will Hunley and David Dubreuil. Unable to attend were Richard Barbier, Eugene Caballero, Frank Mistretta and Arnold Mury. Deceased classmates are Aubery J. Bergeron, Charles Breaux, J.C. Blanchard, Wade Caballero, Ronald N. Kocke, Jules P. LeBlanc, Norman Rodrigue, Kenneth M. Schexnayder, Byron J. Thiac and Vernon J. Troxclair.
