3 Things to do this week

  1.  1.Attend a Martin Luther King Jr. Service Day: On Jan. 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the African American Museum will have a day of service in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Attendees will do yard work, gardening and maintenance work around the museum and Williams St. The Donaldsonville High School Band, football players and History Club will be in attendance as well. Donations of water and food are welcomed. At the end of the day there will be food and music for the volunteers, as well as tours of the museum. 
  2.  2.Learn how to crotchet your own bag: Crotchet lovers can take part in a three week class, Knot Again: Let's Make a Bag!, learning how to create and design a granny square bag. Newcomers and those with experience can take part in a review of single and double crotchet techniques and learn to work with granny squares and borders. Participants will meet on three consecutive Thursdays, Jan. 14, 21 and 28, at 6 p.m. Registration is required. Call the library at (225) 473-8052 to reserve your spot. 
  3.  3.Attend 4-H's annual Stick Horse Rodeo: On Jan. 15 at 6:30 p.m., the annual Ascension Parish 4-H Stick Horse Rodeo will take place at the 4-H building at Lamar-Dixon Expo Center. Registration begins at 6 p.m. Open to all youth 11 years old and younger. The classes are Buckin' Horse, Buckin' Bull, Flag Race and Barrel Racing. Entry fee is $5
