A Leadership Ascension group working to create a community playground on the grounds of The Church in Donaldsonville are just $15,000 away from a $50,000 fundraising goal to complete the park.

Joined by two groups of LSU students and the donations of Potash Corp., St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Methanex, BASF and the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, organizers said they hope to obtain the remaining funds by March 1.

A community build, where members of the community will put together the playground equipment, inspired by designs and concepts by Lowery Elementary and Donaldsonville Primary students, is slated to take place on the weekend of April 9-10.

Those wishing to partner or contribute to this project can contact project manager Jackie Tisdell at Jackie.Tisdell@apsb.org or (225) 210-7567.

All donations are tax deductible and can be directed to the “Leadership Ascension Foundation” with the memo “Heathy Spaces.”  Facebook.com/Healthyspacesforwestsidefaces
