Friends of Bayou Lafourche (FOBL) has entered into a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with Nicholls State University to program the tract of land along Bayou Lafourche. The plot of land runs along Highway 1 and the bayou.

FOBL looks forward to creating a multi-use bayou side available to Nicholls students, faculty, and staff, as well as the general public. FOBL will work with university representatives and community stakeholders to put together a phased master plan that promotes recreational and educational uses of the bayou. The improvements will include bayou access for boating and paddle sports, activity and observation areas, and other venues that promote Bayou Lafourche.

This is a monumental step for our community in developing a large tract of batture property that has been underutilized for a long time,” said Ryan M. Perque, Executive Director for Friends of Bayou Lafourche. “We hope to be the catalyst to the re-programing of the entire 106 miles of the bayou."

In addition to the Nicholls property, FOBL is also working in the Donaldsonville area, North Lafourche, and Lockport to create and enhance bayou access.
