Donaldsonville Krewe of Elks celebrates its 85th annual Mardi Gras ball

The Assumption Parish Community Center was the backdrop of “Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show” on the evening of February 4, as the Krewe of Elks held its 85th annual Mardi Gras Ball. Serving as Ball Captain for the evening was Past Exalted Ruler Micah Crochet with Marcel and Neal Dugas as Ball Chairmen.

The evening opened with the final presentation of King Jolly Goodfellow LXXXIV Mr. David Hambrick and his Queen, Claudia Alexandra Rome, as they were introduced, extended their well wishes for this year’s royalty, and took their final walk. A gift of roses was presented to the queen from Ball Chairman, Marcel Dugas.

Reigning over this year’s celebration were King Jolly Goodfellow LXXXV Mr. Charles “Chuck” David Montero, and his Queen, Karli Ilyse Montero. Karli is the daughter of Kimberly Vasquez and Chuck Montero. She is a graduate of Ascension Catholic High School and is currently attending Southeastern Louisiana University. Karli is majoring in Accounting, was recently on the President’s List, and serves as an orientation leader.

Paying homage to the King were this year’s costumed royal couples: Penny and Ronnie Boudreaux, Dana and Dwayne Dugas, Monica and Danny LeBlanc, and Mary Shaheen and Troy LeBlanc.

Debuting as the Royal Court for King Jolly Goodfellow LXXXV were; Maid Sarah Elaine Allee, daughter of Wendi and King Jolly Goodfellow LXXII Stacy Allee; Maid Jordan Marilyn Diez, daughter of Gina and Clint Diez; Maid Alyssa Marie Gros, daughter of Jill and Marvin Gros, Jr.; Maid Elizabeth Ann Latino, daughter of Lori and Billy Latino; Maid Karli Ilyse Montero, daughter of Kimberly Vasquez and Chuck Montero; Maid Grace Elizabeth Villa, daughter of Audra and Keith Villa; Grand Duchess Paige Rene’ Gautreau, daughter of Jill and Past Exalted Ruler Kevin Gautreau; Duke Christopher James Bergeron, son of Lisa and Bernard Bergeron; and Duke Cameron Joseph Capone, son of Joshua and Kimberly Capone-Truxillo.

Junior Maids presented were Stevi Layton Dugas, daughter of Ball Chairmen Marcel and Neal Dugas; Charlie Cherie Griffin, daughter of Allison and Eric Griffin; Marisa Elizabeth Hashenberger, daughter of Amalia and Matthew Hashenberger; and Erin Amalia Poirrier, daughter of Donna and Mark Poirrier, Sr.

Pages and Heralds paying homage to the King were Kaelyn Marie Rivers, daughter of Kesley Decker and Justin Rivers; Edward George Stock II, son of Laura and Edward Stock; and Kayne Matthew Theriot, son of Tiffani and Brandon Theriot.

The festivities continued throughout the night with dancing to the music of the band, Good Feeling.
