Castrogovannie exhibits Grand Champion Steer and Heifer

Camryn Castrogovannie, daughter of Trish and Blaine Castrogovannie and a sixth grade student at Ascension Catholic Primary School, recently exhibited the Grand Champion Steer and the Grand Champion Charolais Heifer at the 2018 LSU Ag Center Livestock Show.

Camryn started off the week by exhibiting her March 2016 Charolais heifer, Kaycee, against purebred Charolais breeding cattle from across the state. Marcus Arnold from El Dorado, Kansas, served as judge and selected Camryn and Kaycee as Grand Champion and La. Bred Grand Champion. 2018 is the second year that Camryn and Kaycee have been named as Grand Champion and La. Bred Grand Champion of the LSU Spring Livestock Show. Some of the other honors Camryn and Kaycee have received include Grand Champion Charolais Female and Supreme Grand Champion Breeding Female of the Ascension parish livestock show and Grand Champion Charolais Female and Supreme Grand Champion Breeding Female of the South Central District livestock show.

The week was then capped off with the market steer show. In the steer show, Camryn and her 1,323 pound steer, named Charlie, were evaluated against competitors from all over Louisiana by Lee Denzer of Kewanee, Illinois. Camryn and Charlie are no strangers to winning banners, some other titles include Grand Champion Market Steer of the Ascension Parish Livestock Show and Grand Champion Market Steer of the South Central District Livestock Show.

Camryn has exhibited championship steers at the state livestock show previously, having had the Reserve Grand Champion in 2015 and the Grand Champion in 2016.
