Grandparents Raising Grandkids

Donaldsonville High School was the site for the monthly meeting for Grandparents raising Grandkids. Each month the group meets at a different location to discuss issues of concern by the grandparents.

Facilitator Wanda August, with the Ascension Parish School Board, arranged for a presentation from Medicare. Grandparents were presented with information of the programs and services available to families who are covered by Medicare. August welcomes all grandparents to join them each month for the one hour meeting. If interested, contact any school for information on how to contact her.

Locals Attend Governor's Prayer Breakfast

Louisiana's 52nd Annual Prayer Breakfast was held at the River Center in Baton Rouge on March 23. An invitation was extended to Mayor Leroy Sullivan and other local leaders. Attending the breakfast were Councilman Lauthaught Delaney, Sr., Robyn P. Delaney and Juanita C. Pearley. Mayor Sullivan regretfully were unable to attend because of the water crisis at that time.

There were over 900 guest in attendance. Gov. John Bel Edwards gave the address, mentioning by name the Fleming family that was affected by the recent tornado, and how it touched him to see their only possession left was the statue of the blessed mother.
