1. Join the library for a Mother’s Day party: The Ascension Parish Library in Donaldsonville is hosting a Mother’s Day Tea Party on May 5 at 6 p.m. Attendees will enjoy cake, tea, punch and story time with their mothers. There will also be games and crafts during the party. Registration is required.

2. Go to a rodeo: The eight annual Black Rodeo will be held on May 7 at Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales. The trail ride will begin at 3 p .m. The event will feature entertainment from Kenny Wayne, signing Ride it Like a Cowboy. Ticket are $15 in advance and $20 at the gate. For more information contact Nino at (504) 430-5204.

3. Attend a gospel concert:This year’s Gospel in the Park will be held on May 7 from noon to 8 p.m. at Jambalaya Park, 120 S. Irma Blvd., Gonzales. The event is an outdoor music concert featuring choirs, liturgical dancers, soloists, poets and gospel artists. This year’s the event is centered on youth performances.
