Jorge Fuetes celebrates after selling to his first customer of the day, Lemonade Day 2016.

Lemonade Day in Louisiana

It was a typical early Saturday morning as I was driving north on La. 1, when to my surprise I spotted a beautiful yellow and green lemonade stand. Adorned with streamers and music playing and a large cold pitcher of lemonade on the table, Jorge Fuetes was open for business. Saturday, April 30 was designated as "Lemonade Day Louisiana". Its goal was designed to empower today’s youth to become tomorrow’s entrepreneurs. I was Jorge's first customer.  As for the lemonade, it was the best I had that day. Congratulations to Jorge for opening his first business - I only wished I had the grand opening ribbon and scissors with me.

Kites with Dads

Kite Day for Dads at the Ascension Head Start was celebrated by parents, grandparents, uncles and significant others. There was just enough wind to get the kites going. Everyone enjoyed the activity and it was a great day to be out with the kids

Secretary's Day

The Donaldsonville Area Chamber of Commerce held its annual secretary's day luncheon to show appreciation to area business secretaries and administrative assistance. Wednesday, April 27 was National Secretary/Administrative Assistance Day. Local businesses participated in honoring their personnel with lunch at the Grapevine. Thanks to everyone for their continued support. It is because of the members of the Chamber and its contributions that make it possible to have events such as this.
