1. Go to a rodeo: The New Wave Rodeo will be held on May 20 and 21 at the AEI Arena located on Robert Wilson Road, Gonzales. Shows begin at 7 p.m. Friday night will feature youth riders followed by open riders on Saturday night. The event will includes bulls, barrel racing, steer wrestling, broncs and more. 2. Enjoy a family fun weekend: On May 21 and May 22, Cabela's will host a Memorial Day Salute. There will be firetrucks on display, kids activities such as a BB gun range and safe archery range and food, among other activities. Families will be allowed to fish in the Cabela's pond during the weekend and keep everything that is caught.

3. Attend a book presentation: The Ascension Parish Library in Donaldsonville is hosting a book presentation on May 24 at 6:30 p.m. The speaker - forensic anthropologist, Mary H. Manhein - will discuss cold cases featured in her writing. She will also sign copies of her latest releases,Floating Souls andThe Canal Murders. Registration is required, (225) 473-8052.
