1. Attend a Memorial Day ceremony: On May 27, fallen soldiers will receive tribute from Montalbano-Sentilles Post 3766 Veterans of Foreign Wars and Babin-Haynes Post 98 American Legion. The groups will place flags at the graves of identified deceased veterans in all cemeteries within Donaldsonville city limits. The public's assistance is requested in the placing of the five flags, which will begin at 9 a.m.

2. Enjoy the weekend at Jambalaya Fest: The 49th annual Gonzales Jambalaya Festival will be held on May 27 to 29 at the festival grounds, 219 S. Irma Ave., Gonzales. Throughout the weekend there will be rides, games, food and live entertainment, with over 20 performances from various bands. A full schedule can be found at jambalayafestival.org.

3. Bring your teen to the library's summer reading program: This year’s Teen Summer Reading Theme isGet in the Game: Read.On June 2 at 4 p.m., the Ascension Parish Library in Donaldsonville. Using the Morse code alphabet, teens will craft necklaces and bracelets to tell their own story.
