EBC Honors Graduates
Emmanuel Baptist Church held a commencement service to recognize members who were 2016 high school and college graduates. The speaker for the occasion was Dr. LaTedra Collins, a 1998 DHS honor graduate. Collins gave a very inspiring message to the graduates and congregation. We salute our graduates and all class of 2016 graduates near and far.
Getting graduates to come together for a party is easy. Getting them to come together at a church to celebrate on a night that they could have been at a different kind of party is something else. The Church of Donaldsonville made it very easy to have graduates come together and fellowship. The atmosphere was inspiring, joyful and the graduates were hyped with excitement of the music, food and games. There was a mechanical bull, tic-tac-toe inflatable and a giant screen to play games that made the game characters look life-size. The best part of the night was every graduate receiving a gift. Thanks to donations from churches, businesses and individuals they received laptops, tablets, refrigerators, Xboxes and televisions just to name a few. Best wishes to all of the graduates.
Never Give Up
Being encouraged and never giving up was the topic of discussion as local Girl Scouts were presented with a slideshow and positive information by Mrs. Laurice Harrison, LPC owner of Irise Counseling Services, LLC. The presentation was focused on self-esteem and bullying. Pastor Charles R. Brown, Sr. and Mrs. Rene Brown also made an appearance to offer words of encouragement, as many of the girls are church members. Keeping a positive attitude and believing in yourself no matter what others say about you helps in building your self-esteem.
