1. Bring your teen to the library's summer reading program: This year’s Teen Summer Reading Theme isGet in the Game: Read.On June 2 at 4 p.m., the Ascension Parish Library in Donaldsonville. Using the Morse code alphabet, teens will craft necklaces and bracelets to tell their own story.

2. Attend the annual Juneteenth Festival: On June 4 and 5, the 20th annual Juneteenth Festival will commence in Louisiana Square in Donaldsonville. The event will feature music, shopping, food and activities for the kids. On Saturday, the event will begin at 11 a.m. with a prayer and history of the festival, followed by the RRAAM sign language ensemble, local cheerleader exhibition, music from DJ Marquis and the Michael Foster. 3. Go to the Hot Rod Power Tour: On June 11, the 22nd Hot Rod Power Tour will make a stop at Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales, showcasing some of the best hot rods in town. The 1,500 mile tour will begin in Baton Rouge and end in Kansas City on June 17. For more information, visit hotrod.com.
