Three things to do
1. Spend the weekend fishing:The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) Free Recreational Fishing Days will be held June 11 to 12. Both Louisiana residents and non- residents will be allowed to fish without a license on any of the state’s public waters during the weekend. Anglers are allowed to fish on all public bodies of waters without a license, but all fishing regulations still apply.
2. Check out a museum: The River Road African American Museum offers an array of information regarding African American who lived and worked on the plantations along the Mississippi River. The museum holds stories about the history and landmarks of the Donaldsonville area, which was once the capital of Louisiana.
3. Cool off at the new splash park: The spray park in Donaldsonville, located next to the Frank Sotile Pavilion, opened on Memorial Day weekend. Hours for the park will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. throughout the summer.
