Fall Fest

The St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church held its Fall Fest this past weekend.

The beautiful weather made the event one to really enjoy. Filled with plenty delicious foods, sweets and other treats it made you happy all over.

You should have been there to participate in the cake walk, auction, games, and rides.

Councilman Reginald Francis served as emcee announcing all the activities of the day.

Great Job

Juanita C. Pearley was congratulated by Gary Palmer, publisher of The Donaldsonville Chief, for her outstanding job of providing news and informational articles about Donaldsonville and surrounding areas in her column “Around Town”.

Shelter for Safety

In case you didn’t know, the Donaldsonville Primary School is the only school on the Westside that has a shelter in place safety room.

A tour of the facility was done by Chad Lynch, director of planning and construction and Jeff Parent, maintenance supervisor with the Ascension Parish School System. DES Principal Mary McMahan gave information of the plan of action for the students and faculty.

The safety room is set up to filter fresh air; provide air conditioning and heating that will accommodate all the students and staff in case of an environmental incident. Those visiting the school for the tour were very impressed of the safe room and the additional classroom space that will also be provided.
