ACHS' Noel selected to Class 1A first-team

Ascension Catholic's Ross Noel was recently named Class 1A All-State first-team in baseball.

Ascension Catholic went deep into the Class 1A baseball playoffs in 2008 and one Bulldog was recently honored for helping his team get that far by being named to the Louisiana Sports Writers Association Class 1A All-State team.

Ascension Catholic junior outfielder Ross Noel made the Class 1A first team in baseball.

Ascension Catholic went 16-14 in baseball and advanced to the Class 1A quarterfinal before being eliminated by St. Martin's. The Bulldogs also captured the District 9-1A title with an 8-0 record.

Noel, the District 9-1A MVP, led the Bulldogs with a .475 batting average. He also had two home runs, 16 doubles, and 33 runs batted in, all team-highs. Noel scored 32 runs and stole nine bases,

Noel also had team highs in district play with a .682 average, 1.045 slugging percentage, 15 hits, eight doubles and 17 RBI to go along with 16 runs.
