Ascension Catholic outscored White Castle 17-4 in the third quarter and held on for a 44-38 victory in a Summer League game Wednesday evening at ACHS' gym.

"We held them to four points in the third quarter," said Troy LeBeouf. "We didn't do that bad. We were missing three or four kids that play for the varsity."

LeBeouf is head coaching the Bulldogs this summer along with Ed Burns, Thomas Pearce and Willie Depron.

"I am going to help them throughout the summer," LeBeouf said.

Matt Pearce scored nine first half points for Ascension Catholic.

"Pearce is doing some individual stuff," LeBeouf said. "He is coming into his own."

Pearce's free throw with 3:51 left in the first quarter opened the scoring before his lane drive and one made it 4-0.

Johntrelle Majors fed Derrell Haynes inside before Pearce's fadeway jumper. Ronald Martin's dish to Donald Allen preceded Dontrell Thomas' put back and free throw with 1:32 left to give White Castle a 7-6 lead.

Pearce's free throw tied it before Kolby Martinez's put back but Major beat the buzzer to knot the score 9-9 going into the second quarter.

Martinez fed Greg Carter inside to open the stanza before Pearce's free throws made it 13-9.

Majors' dish to Haynes inside preceded Myron Dominique's free throws. Thomas' put back and Haynes dish to Martin in transition during a 10-0 White Castle run tied it at 13 with 3:06 left in the half.

Martin's transition bucket made it 21-15 at halftime after Majors' dish to Haynes inside and Thomas' put back.

Ascension Catholic hosts Donaldsonville Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
