Caballero, Noel named to LBCA All-State team

BATON ROUGE - Ascension Catholic's Charles Caballero and Ross Noel were recently named to the Louisiana Baseball Coaches Association Class 1A All-State team after leading the Bulldogs into the playoff quarterfinals.

Charles Caballero, a sophomore pitcher, went 6-2 overall with a 1.94 earned run average finishing with 60 strikeouts in 54 innings while walking 19.

Caballero also pitched two complete games in the Bulldogs' playoff victories recording a 2-1 record while striking out 20 and walking four in 19 innings during postseason play.

Noel, a junior outfielder who named District 9-1A MVP and to the LSWA's first team, led the team with a .475 batting average, .775 slugging percentage, 38 hits, 16 doubles, two home runs and 33 runs batted in, while adding 32 runs, one triple and going 9 of 9 in stolen base attempts.

Ouachita Christian's Cade Bowen was named pitcher of the year, while Northlake Christian's Sam Scheibal eared player of the year. Northlake's Rowland Skinner was named coach of the year.
